    The Real Ted Cruz
    By Theodore A. Gebhard

    Contrary to some who have expressed concerns about Ted Cruz’s temperament and qualifications to be an effective president, my experience in working with the Texas senator and Republican presidential candidate during the early 2000s convinces me that he is the right person at the right time for the job.

    Although not a close friend of Senator Cruz, I got to know him reasonably well as a colleague at the Federal Trade Commission from mid-2001 until he left the commission to return to Texas in 2003. During that time, we worked together on a number of projects, including efforts to curtail anticompetitive legislation pending in several states to protect incumbent businesses such as gasoline retailers and automobile dealerships, and a task force established by the FTC’s Chairman charged with looking into litigants’ abuses of legal immunities to the antitrust laws. The Chairman appointed Cruz to lead that task force, and I was one of several members.

      I have my doubts about Senator Cruz. Is he real deal or not? What is there to lose though?

      We get more of the same.

      Trump, Cruz, or voting for my Wife as POTUS. She is Constitutionally not eligible.

    The conservative elite chooses irrelevance
    By Mike Stopa
    Nearly a hundred years ago, G.K. Chesterton wrote:

    The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of the Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected.

    One thing you have to give the conservatives at National Review: they know their Chesterton.

    I will never understand why a party that supposedly represents conservative values, would systematically root all of the conservative candidates out of their nomination process, in order to hand-pick an Obama-lite candidate, in some delusional strategy of attracting voters away from the opposition.

    I will never understand why that same supposedly conservative party would then turn to its base and say “You have the choice between the lesser of two evils, now go be a team player and vote for the party, because our guy sucks less than the other guy”.

    I will never understand why a supposedly conservative party would continue this self destructive behavior and watch itself lose repeatedly without reevaluating its actions and changing its strategy.

    Each of us gets one vote. We deserve more than the lesser of two evils. I deserve more than the one that sucks less. We do not owe fealty to any political party. The political parties owe it to us to put forth a quality product that is worthy of our support and earns our vote.

    The GOPe has not earned our vote.

    I went to the polling booth in 2012. I did not stay home. I voted. I voted for every candidate that EARNED my vote. And when I got tot he choice between Obama and Obama-lite, I voted for neither. And I wondered if the GOPe would learn its lesson after another four years of failure. A failure that they, themselves engineered and caused, by putting Romney on the ticket. And every person who supported and voted for Romney was complicit in the engineered failure to win that election. I thank YOU for delivering that election to the democrats with a bow on top.

    If the Republican party wants my vote, they can earn it by putting a deserving candidate on the ticket. If they fail to earn my vote, they have no one to blame but themselves.”

    No matter what happens this election it’s been the funniest in my life time. Trump owning the media, kicking out Univision dorks, Jeb Bush and his guac bowl, Bernie Sanders being owned by BLM losers, Bill Clinton being called out on his whoring. Kind of feel sorry for Cruz, but the above link and the comments about Cruz are just brutally funny.

        Conservatives think liberals want an honest debate. That’s the big mistake. Liberals want to win with power. Why would liberal friends and the media show you Barry’s life? Do you think he placed in the top 1% in math and science on the SAT exam like all the other Ivy league kids?

Like Dems don’t shit all over the constitution and when 20 million new Dem voters get in because of pool boy or bernie or hillary that won’t mean the end of the ‘Muh Constitution’.

    I always suspected that Amy and the Count much preferred to be cool ex-hippies in the National Review mold than boring, common GOP middle class voters who are pissed their wages have stagnated because of crony capitalism and government handouts.

      We conservatives were way too lazy for way too long. We just wanted to be left alone. The enemy did not want to leave us alone and acted accordingly. This brings to where we are now.

      Do you remember Tim when Obama was blamed for $5.00 gasoline prices? What socialists like me were howling about and still do is the government handouts that are given to oil companies. I can point to what Missouri has done with their TANF system as a gold standard. They have lowered the mount of time you can be on welfare from 60 months to 45 months and decreased the average family benefit to $227 per month. Forty states now have time limits on how long any person even children can receive TANF benefits with only two still allowing so-called “welfare for life.” Last I checked Apple wasn’t getting the same breaks as BP, Shell and Exxon/Mobil.

        Should tell you just what you need to know Fred old boy.

        Well, just in case you have a problem with it. You see the United States has a Corporate Income Tax of 35% IIRC.

        Ireland is now I think 12.5%

        Nope no big break for appel at all.

        🙄

        Paying taxes is for us little people. Not big appels.

      2. Fredrick Schwartz, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H. [Journ.]

        Apple’s effective tax rate globally was 26.2% on roughly 50 billion EBITDA. This means they paid over 13 billion in taxes. And of course most people in the United States don’t have an Apple product in their homes since their share of the smartphone market is 44% followed by Samsung at 27%. So unlike energy which is subsidized by the government at around 3 bucks a barrel Apple gets no federal money to make phones.

      6. Fredrick Schwartz, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H. [Journ.]

        No I never did think that Bush caused a lower or higher gas or oil price because I know better.

    Lets just round off to $18,000,000,000.00
    @35% = $6,300,000,000.00 for a Corp. located in the U.S.
    @12.5% = $2,250,000,000.00

    Noted leftwing company appel computer loves the United States and its Citizens so much, they declined to pay the American Tax Rate and save themselves a cool 4 billion.

    How very Capitalistic of mr. cook. How very hypocritical of the company as a whole.

    Hey Fred. How much of the profit do you think came from saudi arabia? You know sadia arabia where homosexuals like mr cook and you would be executed for being just that?

    Texas Grand Jury Shoots the Messenger
    What used to be called “investigative journalism” has been criminalized. Planned Parenthood was not indicted for selling baby body parts but in the parallel universe of this grand jury the filmmakers were indicted for engaging in an alleged criminal conspiracy to buy them. How can you buy something the other party is not selling? If Planned Parenthood was not in fact selling body parts, then why the extended negotiations? Why didn’t Planned Parenthood tell the filmmakers to get lost instead of inviting them to lunch and negotiating prices over a salad and cocktails?

    Interestingly, and strictly coincidentally, of course, a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s office is a Planned Parenthood board member. As LifeNews.com reports:

    Paging Tim McVeigh;

    Why now? Just like the massacre at the Branch Davidian compound, (ruby ridge, waco biker slaughter),, the feds proved to be impatient, incompetent, and poorly led. The confrontation on the highway was guaranteed to erupt into violence. Perhaps that’s what the feds wanted; an opporunity to take down the leaders of the occupation.

    “It was not only the questions Kelly asked, it was the sequence and her demeanor. Stevie Wonder could see that. The very first question, after the giggling and slapping herself on the back, and the “little ‘ol me” act was a childish raise your hands if you won’t guarantee a third party run. That was aimed at only one person on that stage, no one else. It was sophomoric, crass and not the way true moderators, moderate a debate.

    With the revelations on Ailes being a supporter of a lobbying group for open borders, the obvious favorable prejudices of how they treat Rubio, and Fox’s childish retort yesterday only a fool would stand idly by. There is an old expression which Fox should have heeded, “Don’t wave a red flag in front of the bull.” We’ll see how well the ratings are without Trump and, in that, you will have your answer.
